The Indian team will be captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy. Due to her injury, Pooja Vastrakar cannot compete.

India’s all-arounder Pooja Vastrakar won’t be able to play in the next five-match T20I series against Australia, which begins on December 9 in Mumbai. In her place, the Indian selectors have opted to bring in Anjali Sarvani, a promising uncapped left-arm pacer. Injuries prevented Pooja from leading India A in the Women’s T20 Challenger in Raipur, as BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated. Andhra left-arm medium pacer Anjali, 25, impressed with her neat bowling showing as India A finished second in the Women’s Challenger, which took place earlier this month. Poonam Yadav captained India A.

Against India D, Anjali was outstanding, finishing with 2 for 11 in her three overs to help her team secure last place. She finished with an economy rate of 5.50 and three total wickets from four matches.

Devika Vaidya, a left-handed all-rounder for Maharashtra, is making her long-awaited comeback after an absence of more than four years for the Australia series.

Now 25 years old, the leg-spin allrounder made her debut in a Twenty20 International against South Africa in 2014. Her most recent international participation was in a One-Day International match in 2018 against England.

India B defeated India C by four wickets in the T20 Challenger, and it was all thanks to Devika’s 41 not out off just 27 balls.

Team captain Harmanpreet Kaur will have Smriti Mandhana as her second-in-command.

India will host the first two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) on December 9 and 11, at the DY Patil stadium, before relocating the series to the CCI for the final three matches on December 14, 17, and 20.

India will use this series as practice for the Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in South Africa commencing on February 10.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team as captain, with Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain, Shafali Verma as a wicketkeeper, Yastika Bhatia as the other batswoman, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur, Meghna Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Devika Vaidya.
