On Thursday, Indian opener Devdutt Padikkal said he expects to be out of play for three to four weeks because of a broken thumb. Padikkal, who appeared in two Twenty20 Internationals for India in 2021, was hurt in early March during the Deodhar Trophy. Padikkal, who had been selected by the Gulbarga Mystics for their T20 tournament, had to withdraw due to an injury.

During the Deodhar Trophy, I broke my left thumb. As a result, I needed to have some minor surgery to correct the issue. For the next three to four weeks, I will be sidelined. Padikkal told Fancode, “Hopefully I can get back on the pitch soon.

The left-handed batter shared news of thumb surgery on social media.

Simply a status report. Unfortunately, I broke my left thumb and needed surgery. Now that I’ve started on the path to recovery, I hope to be back on the pitch shortly.
