During his innings of 161 runs off 88 balls, Ben Stokes smashed the record for the most sixes hit in a County Championship innings.
Ben Stokes’ effort of 161 runs off 88 balls surpassed the county cricket record for the most sixes struck in an innings. With 17 sixes against Glamorgan in the 2021 season, he broke the record previously held by Kent’s Darren Stevens, who had 15 sixes. Prior to exploding for another 50 runs in 17 balls, Stokes scored a calculated 50 runs off 47 deliveries. Josh Baker bowled five straight sixes to help him to a 64-ball tonne.
On Friday, Ben Stokes smashed 17 sixes and eight fine boundaries as Worcestershire’s bowlers were ripped apart at New Road.
First time since Joe Root stepped down as New England Test captain that Stokes has been on the field for a Test match.
Root was widely criticized following England’s defeats in the Ashes (4-0) and the West Indies (2-1) series.
In order to improve England’s World Test Championship (WTC) table position, Stokes intends to lead the team to stronger performance and help the team move up the rankings.
