Shikhar Dhawan
The Punjab Kings' next Indian Premier League captain will be Shikhar Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the franchise’s head coach for the next Indian Premier League season, Punjab Kings announced on Friday.

Shikhar Dhawan will serve as the franchise’s captain during the 2019 Indian Premier League season, Punjab Kings announced on Friday. He will take over for Mayank Agarwal, the team’s last season captain. After Mayank failed to lead the team to the IPL play-offs earlier this year, the change was expected. After KL Rahul made the decision to join the Lucknow Super Giants, Agarwal was appointed captain for the 2022 season. Along with PBKS’ difficulties, Mayank’s performance also deteriorated; earlier this year, he managed 196 runs at an average of 16.33 during the IPL season.

At the big auction, PBKS paid Rs 8.25 crore for Dhawan’s services. The seasoned batter returned the favor by scoring 460 runs at an average of 38.33 in 14 games.

When the mini-auction takes place, it will be intriguing to watch whether PBKS decides to keep Mayank.

The IPL mini-auction, according to the rumor, will occur on December 16, 2022. There is still no evidence of this, though.

Earlier this year, PBKS also hired Trevor Bayliss as their new head coach. Bayliss previously led KKR to two IPL championships in 2012 and 2014 and England to the 2019 ODI World Cup title.

Notably, Dhawan was selected for the respective tours of Bangladesh and New Zealand by India’s ODI team.

However, he will captain the squad against the Kiwis because Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rohit Sharma were all rested for the trip to Australia.
