For the first time since MS Dhoni won the trophy in the inaugural edition in 2007, the Indian cricket team is competing in the T20 World Cup in Australia. The Indian team lost in the final in 2014 and the semifinal in 2016 but has come close a few times. However, the team performed poorly in the competition last year, failing to advance past the Super 12 stage.
The team wants to correct the claim that the “Men in Blue” have prepared well for the tournament this year, under the guidance of coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma.
The last time India claimed a world championship was in 2011 when the team triumphed in the 50-over competition again under Dhoni’s direction.
Only Virat Kohli was a member of the 2011 Cup-winning team in the lineup that will play in Australia later this month. Only one other team manager, besides him, has experienced what it’s like to win the world championship.
