With India’s first Test victory against the West Indies, Rohit Sharma eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar as the team’s winningest captain.

With India’s crushing win over the Windies in the opening Test match in Dominica, Rohit Sharma surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar as India’s most successful Test captain. Rohit has now won five of his last eight matches as captain, whereas Sachin has won only four of his last twenty-five. The current Indian team captain has now won more games as captain than Ajinkya Rahane and Ajit Wadekar combined (four). With 40 wins from 68 matches, Kohli is in the lead, followed by MS Dhoni (27 wins) and Sourav Ganguly (21).

India won the first Test by an innings and 141 runs because of the efforts of Ravichandran Ashwin, who took five wickets twice against a weak West Indies batting lineup.

After India declared their first innings at 421 for five in the middle of the afternoon session, the Caribbean hitters were anticipated to produce an improved batting display, but they instead fell to 130 all out in 50 overs, resulting in a three-day conclusion.

After taking his 33rd five-wicket haul in the first innings, Ashwin backed it up with his finest bowling performance of the Test, seven for 71 in 21.3 overs.

After being bowled out for 150 on the first day, the West Indies were doomed to lose.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who hit 171 on his debut, was also vital in setting up India’s massive triumph. Virat Kohli scored 76 out of 182, but it was not one of his flowing knocks because he was dropped twice and had to fight hard to achieve it.
