It’s a First for a Bowler in Women’s ODIs: Jhulan Goswami.

Jhulan Goswami became the first Indian player to score a hat-trick against England on Wednesday.

Jhulan Goswami, a veteran Indian pacer, is the first woman to achieve this feat in an ODI.

Jhulan Goswami became the first bowler in the history of women’s one-day internationals to take 250 wickets on Wednesday. Jhulan reached the milestone while bowling against England at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui during an ICC Women’s World Cup group phase match. Despite England’s Tammy Beaumont’s dismissal, Jhulan reached the milestone figure. In women’s one-day internationals, she is already the leading wicket-taker. Cathryn Fitzpatrick, a former Australian cricketer, has 180 wickets in women’s one-day internationals.

After a dismal 134-run defeat by defending champions England, India’s batsmen were haunted by their inconsistency.

With Smriti Mandhana (35) and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (33) leading the way, England knocked India out in 36.2 overs after deciding to field first against India in the previous game.

Unlike India’s performance against West Indies in their last encounter, when they racked up 317 for eight, the greatest total ever recorded in a World Cup match, India’s performance in this match was abysmal.

Charlie Dean (4/23) and Anya Shrubsole each took two wickets for England, while the Indians were unable to put together a solid combination.

With three defeats in a row, it is a must-win match for reigning champions and four-time winners England.

India, on the other hand, came into the game third in the standings after beating Pakistan and the West Indies but falling short against New Zealand in their previous two encounters.
