Gautam Gambhir opened up about a verbal spat with Virat Kohli in 2013.

IPL 2022: After their 2013 verbal spat, Gautam Gambhir stated that he has nothing personal against Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli stood down as captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) following the 2021 IPL season. RCB retained the services of former India captain Virat Kohli, but in the mega-auction, the team signed Faf du Plessis and named him to captain ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Kohli has a reputation for being strong on the field and refusing to give up a single point to the opposition. Gautam Gambhir, Kohli’s former India colleague, was also cast in a similar mold. Both Kohli and Gambhir were embroiled in a verbal argument during the 2013 IPL season. Almost exactly ten years after the incident, Gambhir recalled it.

Gambhir talked about the incident with Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel and said that he didn’t hold anything “personal” towards Kohli because of it.

“That’s great with me; I fully anticipate him to be the same way. That’s how I am. People who are competitive are fun to be around. MS Dhoni and Virat are both competitors in their own way. Even if you don’t want to do it, you have to do it if you want your team to play the way you want them to play. There are moments when you are not thinking about your personal relationships with your coworkers (but) because you are leading a team, you must “Gambhir agreed.

“As a result, nothing personal was said about Virat Kohli at the time, and nothing personal will be said about him going forward. That he has accomplished what he has, I am completely unsurprised. We first saw him as this type of player, but I think he’s evolved tremendously since then, both in terms of fitness and skill “He went on to say that

The IPL 2022 season kicks off on March 26, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While this is going on, the Royal Challengers Bangalore will take against the Punjab Kings on March 27. (PBX).
