With the addition of two new franchises, the IPL will have ten teams by 2022.

Ahmedabad and Lucknow will field two new teams in this year’s competition.

RPSG Group won the Lucknow franchise, while CVC Capital took home Ahmedabad.

According to the ANI news agency, the two new IPL teams will be based in Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) will expand to ten teams next season with the addition of Ahmedabad and Lucknow. On Monday, the auction was held at Dubai’s Taj Hotel. CVC Capital Partners and RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group will be the new owners of the cash-rich league. An official from the BCCI confirmed the news to ANI.

“We couldn’t be happier with how far Indian cricket has progressed. That’s what we care about. That’s our job: to analyze Indian cricket. The better it will be for Indian cricket if it becomes more prosperous “Sourav Ganguly, the president of the BCCI, commented on the addition of two new IPL teams to the league.

First played in 2008, the IPL has grown to be a major global sporting event with millions of viewers around the world.

Teams such as Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have been around since it began as have others such as the Kolkata Knightriders and the Delhi Capitals. Newer teams such as the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals joined the league later on.

After a change in ownership, the Hyderabad franchise went by the name Deccan Chargers before becoming SunRisers Hyderabad.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament has run for fourteen years. With the new teams, there will be more games in the 15th season.

Prior to the league’s fourth season in 2011, two new franchises — Pune Warriors India and Kochi Tuskers Kerala — joined in 2010, and the league featured 10 teams for a short time.

The Kochi Tuskers Kerala side’s contract was terminated after it “breached” the BCCI’s terms of conditions one year later, in November 2011. After financial disagreements with the board, Pune Warriors India withdrew from the IPL in 2013.

However, in 2022, it will be a ten-team event once again.
