The Hundred has postponed the men’s draught till after Shane Warne’s state burial on March 30 to prevent a clash.
For the sake of avoiding a possible clash with Shane Warne’s state burial on March 30, cricket’s Hundred draught and announcement of the new female players for the tournament’s second edition have been postponed until April 5. Players selected by men and signed by women for the second season of the event will be announced on March 30, the same day that Shane Warne will be remembered at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
One of the most recent updates to their schedule was a change in the date of when the next Priority Access window would open, which has been moved to Tuesday, April 5th, according to a statement from The Hundred.
Shane Warne’s state funeral is on Wednesday, March 30th, hence this event has been moved up a week.
Svengali Warne, the legendary leg-spin bowler who revived the art of the sport by capturing 708 wickets in 145 Test matches, died on March 4 in Koh Samui, Thailand, at the age of 52 following a suspected heart attack.
“As the head coach of the London Spirit men’s squad, Shane was a beloved member of The Hundred. He played an essential role in the competition’s start. Those that worked with him will miss him greatly.” London Spirit’s men’s team was coached by Warne last year and he was expected to head the team again this year.
