In the league stage of the IPL 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal was a revelation. In 14 games, he batted 625 times for an average of 48.08.

On Friday night in Dharamsala, Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by four wickets in IPL 2023 Match No. 66. This victory keeps the Royals in theoretical playoff contention. The Royals were given a challenging target of 188 runs to win. With contributions from Shimron Hetmyer (46 runs), opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 runs), and Devdutt Padikkal (51 runs), they completed the total in 19.4 overs. Sam Curran (not out 49), Jitesh Sharma (not out 44), and M Shahrukh Khan (not out 41) led PBKS to a total of 187 for five in their first innings.

With 14 points at season’s end following the win, the Royals surpassed PBKS, who finished with 12 points after 14 games in the league. Since the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Mumbai Indians also have 14 points but have a game in hand, the Royals’ tournament fate now rests on the outcomes of the remaining matches.

JioCinema IPL analyst Pragyan Ojha commented on the Royals’ performance, saying, “I think it’s too late now.” This is a predicament that they created for themselves, as they were one of your top four teams going into the competition but now can only progress if the other club in contention loses.

They should give that some consideration. Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler, as noted out by Raina (Suresh), were dismissed for ducks in half of those 14 games. Then they had to go looking for bowlers, and there was also a problem with the way they bowled. He elaborated, saying, “The little things add up to something big, and you can see it in the eventual result.”

There is a certain peace in his batting,” Suresh Raina, another JioCinema IPL guru, observed of Jaiswal. His body language has changed, and he’s been scoring runs for his club on a regular basis. I have to give their dugout captain, Kumar Sangakkara, a lot of credit for this. Jaiswal is a unique type of sportsman. He plans to rule by force. It takes a special kind of player to try to rule this format. He possesses every one of those traits.
