Sri Lanka against India: Eight close contacts of Krunal Pandya, the all-rounder, who was testing for Covid positively on Tuesday, stayed segregated, while India added five net bowlers to their T20I team.
After 8 close contacts from Krunal Pandya, who tested positively for COVID-19 on Tuesday, on the 2nd T20I on Wednesday, India added five net bowlers to her T20I team to play Sri Lanka in a three-game series. “Based on the application of the Indonesian team management in Sri Lanka, for the second and third T20Is, the All-India Senior Selection Committee appointed additions to the Indian squad,” said BCCI in an affirmation on Wednesday.
“The five net bowlers — Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, R Sai Kishore, and Simarjeet Singh – will now become a part of the T20I team.”
BCCI further revealed that all eight intimate contacts with Krunal, along with all other members of the team and support staff, have returned negative test results.
“Following a positive test on 27 July of Krunal Pandya for COVID-19, all members of the team and support staff were quarantined and tested promptly as a precautionary measure. The test results were negative for everyone, including the eight close contacts named by Krunal, “Read more of the BCCI statement.
“After the test on 27 July, a Rapid Antigen test was also carried out today (28 July) at midday and the findings were all negative.
“However, the 8 close contacts will remain in isolation at the team hotel to protect the safety and safety of the team.
“The rest of the T20Is are scheduled to continue.”
India went on Wednesday with five specialist batsmen, including captain Shikhar Dhawan, for the second T20I. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, and Devdutt Padikkal, all making their ODI debuts, and Sanju Samson were the other four batsmen.
