Ravindra Jadeja’s Joke: “If I Bat Higher (Than MS Dhoni), Then Crowd Will…”

Ravindra Jadeja made a light-hearted remark about how often he hears the name "MS Dhoni" being chanted.

CSK defeated DC thanks to brilliant performances from MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the batting department, as well as from Matheesha Pathirana, who took three wickets.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joked after his team’s 27-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) that he hears people chanting skipper MS Dhoni’s name and that when he bats up the order, the crowd wants him to get out so that they can get to see the legendary wicketkeeper bat. Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets and MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja scored centuries, helping CSK to a crucial victory.

“I enjoy the sensation of rotating and holding the ball as a spinner. Here is where we get our practice in, so we know the optimal duration and pace. The away team has to be given some time to adjust. We’re making the most of our comfortable domestic surroundings. All hands are on deck here. As a group, we’re succeeding admirably. I can’t stop thinking about Mahi bhai’s encouragement (to bat higher). If I hit it far enough, the spectators will stand around until I’m done. In the postgame press conference, Jadeja said, “As long as the team wins, I am happy.”

The all-rounder has scored 113 runs in 12 games and 8 innings for a strike rate of 141.25 and an average of 18.83. He has a maximum of 25*.

He has taken 16 wickets in 12 matches, with an economy rate of 7.13 and an average of 19.18. His best game in bowling was a 3-20. So far in IPL 2023, he has been named “Man of the Match” three times.

CSK batted first and made a decent 167/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Nobody even came close to scoring 30 runs. Both Ruturaj Gaikwad (24) and Ajinkya Rahane (21) contributed well with the bat as part of the top order. Shivam Dube (25 runs), Ambati Rayadu (23 runs), Ravindra Jadeja (21 runs), and MS Dhoni (20 runs) all made contributions in the middle order.

For DC, Mitchell Marsh took the most wickets (3/18) in his three overs. In his four overs, Axar Patel took 2/27. One wicket was taken by each of Lalit Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Khaleel Ahmed.

DC’s top order collapsed again, dropping them to 25/3 as they chased 168. Then, Rilee Rossouw (35) and Manish Pandey (27) put together a 59-run stand to get DC back in the game. Even though Axar Patel scored 21 runs in his brief cameo, it wasn’t enough to keep up with the ever-increasing run pace. DC was defeated by a score of 27 runs.

CSK’s best bowler was Matheesha Pathirana, who finished with 3 for 37. In his three overs, Deepak Chahar also had two wickets (2/28). Another wicket was taken by Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja’s stellar performance earned him the “Player of the Match” honor.

After today’s victory, CSK has a 7-4 record and 15 points, good for second place. There was also a scoreless draw in one of their meetings. DC’s record of four wins and seven losses puts them dead last. They are now in the cellar with only eight points.

Summary: Delhi Capitals (Rilee Rossouw 35, Manish Pandey 27, and Matheesha Pathirana 3-37) defeated the Chennai Super Kings (Shivam Dube 25, MS Dhoni 20) with a score of 140/8.
