The veteran players will have to stand up for the club in the vital encounter against Mumbai Indians, according to the Australian star.

In a virtual IPL quarterfinal against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting believes his squad is peaking at the perfect time, but he wants his big guns to deliver. DC will qualify for the playoffs with a win over MI.

Ponting made the comment while discussing the team’s upcoming game “I have complete faith in the guys and believe they will have a great game this weekend. For the first time this season, we recorded back-to-back victories (against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals).

“We’ve had a roller-coaster season, but we’ve also played some excellent cricket. I’m a big believer in reaching our peak towards the end of the tournament and playing our best cricket. My gut tells me that the boys will do it soon enough, though.” This season, the Capitals have a record of seven wins and six losses after 13 games. On Saturday, there would be no room for error at Wankhede Stadium.

The veteran players will have to stand up for the club in the vital encounter against Mumbai Indians, according to the Australian star.

“It’s been a pleasure working with Davey (Warner) at the top of the list. Additionally, we’ve seen how devastating Mitchell Marsh can be at the No. 3 spot. Kuldeep and Axar have both been outstanding for the bowlers, with Kuldeep particularly impressive, while Axar has bowled cheaply.

“Shardul has been playing well recently and should continue that trend. There are encouraging signals among our more senior players, and major games necessitate the contributions of your more seasoned players.” The Delhi Capitals camp has evolved in the last two weeks, according to Ponting.

“The atmosphere in the group seems to have changed in the last several weeks, and the players themselves should take full credit for that.

“As a coaching staff, we’ll do everything we can to get the players ready for their upcoming challenge, which we are eagerly anticipating.

“I’m looking forward to what Saturday has in store for us, and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to play another week of cricket after that.”
