IPL 2021: Bangalore Royal Challengers clothed Wanindu Hasaranga in Sri Lanka to replace Adam Zampa for the balance of the season.
Before the rebound of the Indian Premier League’s Season 14 (IPL) on Saturday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) coach Mike Hesson claimed that the Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga, who replaced Adam Zampa, had long been on the radar squad. Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) CEO Simon Katich is retiring as IPL head coach for personal reasons and Mike Hesson will, in addition to his existing role as Director of Cricket Operations, become part of the team’s business continuity plan and fulfill the duties of the Head Coach this season.
“As an RCB squad, the first half of the season began nicely. We have gained a lot of momentum and in the season and a half, we will continue to grow. We’re in a decent position, but we recognize we have a lot to do, “In a virtual news briefing, Mike Hesson said.
Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka will now be included in the RCB for the second IPL 2021 leg in the UAE. Adam Zampa replaced him. Hasaranga was the player of the series in the Sri Lanka-India T20I series which was recently finished and took 7 wickets in 3 matches at a rate of 5.58.
Hesson, speaking about Hasaranga, said: “We have a comprehensive scouting program, and Wanindu has long been on the radar. His achievement on the last few occasions does not surprise us, he has done it for a long. We like his set of skills. We like the fact that he is a multi-talented cricketer, so he also offers us the opportunity to fight a little deeper. This gives us a lot of fascinating possibilities.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore, Vice-Chairman and Head of the RCB Bubble Policy, Rajesh Menon said: “We have a very stringent protocol with regard to the bubble protocol. We have put this seven-day quarantine itself. The whole personnel of the hotel, the drivers are tested, everybody is in the bubble. So it’s a safe bubble into which we get into.”
When the IPL moves to the UAE again, Hesson sheds some light on the team benefit. He stated He remarked, “There are players on both teams that played a year ago. The last time we were there, we have some pleasant memories. We did the playoffs, we were good at playing.”
Dushmantha Chameera, another Sri Lankan, confirmed his spot on the side of Bengaluru. Daniel Sams is replaced by the fast bowler. For the rest of the season, Tim David, who is no stranger to the T20 format, replaced Finn Allen. After tasting success in T20 tournaments around the world, the batman and the handy bowler are now testing his IPL skills.
On Saturday the Indian players, supporters and team management assemble in Bengaluru, which is followed by seven days of quarantine and Covid testing for three days. The team then departs from Bangalore on a chartered flight on 29 August. Starting August 29, other foreign players and personnel will gather in the UAE. Another 6 days of quarantine will take place in the UAE.
On September 20, the Royal Challengers Bangalore resume IPL Season 14 when they are squatting up at the Sheik Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
