Lasith Malinga, the Sri Lankan fast bowler, announced his retirement from all cricket activities on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s famous fast bowler Lasith Malinga announced his retirement from cricket today. “Calling it quits with cricket! I am grateful to all of those who helped me along the way, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with the younger cricket players of tomorrow “He tweeted about it. He also uploaded a video that contained a montage of some of his greatest plays and thanked everyone he had worked with on multiple teams. The video is captioned “While my sneakers will rest, my love for the game will never rest.”

In ODIs, Malinga played 226 games, 84 T20Is, and 30 Tests. Even though he’s taken 101 wickets in Tests, he has scored an impressive 338 in ODIs and 107 in T20Is.

On July 1, 2004, Malinga made his debut for Sri Lanka in a test match against Australia.

Malinga was instrumental in Sri Lanka reaching the 2011 World Cup final with his ability to bowl deadly yorkers.

He subsequently on to win the T20 World Cup for Sri Lanka.

He was an Indian Premier League veteran, having played in it for a number of years (IPL). In his 122 games with Mumbai Indians, he played a big part in helping the team be the most successful in the league, which is known for its money.

In January, he had announced his retirement from franchise cricket, a role that had seen him as one of the most dangerous bowlers in the league.
