Josh Inglis' replacement in Australia's T20 World Cup roster is Cameron Green.

After making an impression at the top of the order during Australia’s T20I series in India last month, Cameron Green joins the team.

Josh Inglis, Australia’s backup wicketkeeper and batter, was replaced by explosive all-rounder Cameron Green on Thursday due to injury. At the New South Wales Club in La Perouse, the 27-year-old Inglis suffered an injury in a freak accident while playing golf when his six-iron broke and cut open his hand. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Event Technical Committee has approved Cameron Green to take Josh Inglis’ place in the Australian team, according to a statement from the ICC.

Green, who has participated in seven T20Is, was chosen as Inglis’ replacement due to a right-hand injury that required surgery. Green, a true all-rounder who can bowl medium pace and bat at any position, was in excellent form last month against New Zealand and India.

During his first T20 series in India, the 23-year-old hammered two fifties with strike rates of around 200. He has participated in seven T20 internationals, totaling 136 runs and five wickets.

Inglis did not sustain any ligament injury, but cuts on the palm of his hand prevented him from competing in the T20 championship.

“Josh’s situation is not favorable. This morning, we have some work to do and a small issue with our backup keeper and backup batter to resolve “Andrew McDonald, head coach, remarked.

“His right hand, where he would be grasping the bat and the ball would be impacting there if he had to keep, has damage to the palm, which is less than ideal.” In the opening match of the competition, Australia, the defending champions, will compete against New Zealand on Saturday.

Team Australia: Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, and Aaron Finch (captain).
