Pat Cummins bats in nets for KKR

Despite missing the team’s first three IPL 2022 matches, this was Cummins’ maiden game. Before joining the KKR team earlier this month, Cummins guided Australia to a 1-0 series triumph over Pakistan in Test cricket.

Cricket fans in India and across the world were taken aback on Wednesday when Pat Cummins played one of the most entertaining innings in IPL history. In just 14 balls, Cummins became the second-fastest player to reach 50 in IPL history, and he led his club, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to a convincing win over the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI). With the win, KKR now sits atop the IPL 2022 standings.

Cummins blasted fellow Australian Daniel Sams for 35 runs in an over, including six sixes and four boundaries, to hasten KKR’s triumph.

Cummins had been practicing his massive hits in the nets ahead of time, and KKR has now released videos of him doing so.

As KL Rahul did last year in IPL, Pat Cummin practiced big-hitting in the nets.

Cummins’ effort is comparable to Rahul’s, who also scored a 14-ball half-century in 2018.

First IPL 2022 match for Cummins since he had missed the team’s first three games. Before joining the KKR team earlier this month, Cummins guided Australia to a 1-0 series triumph over Pakistan in Test cricket.

KKR acquired Cummins in February’s IPL mega-auction for Rs 7.25 crore (about $1.2 million).
