In the first over, Mohammad Amir took out both openers, Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam.

Mohammad Amir took four wickets for a total of twenty-six runs, three of which came during the first five overs of the innings.

Mohammad Amir, the pacer for the Karachi Kings, dominated the Peshawar Zalmi, captained by Babar Azam, in a Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter on Wednesday. While Amir’s squad ultimately fell short, he helped set the tone by taking three wickets during the first power play. In the first over, he bowled Zalmi openers Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam, and in the third, he dismissed youthful Zalmi batsman Saim Ayyub. After a devastating yorker, Amir sent Hari’s packing and damaged the Pakistani star.

Similarly, he removed Babar from office and installed the Karachi Kings as the new leaders. Two in-swinging yorkers from Amir fooled the batsmen.

Though Amir batted 4/26, he was unable to prevent Zalmi from scoring a big total.

Zalmi scored 197 for 5 in 20 overs because of half-centuries from Tom Kohler-Cadmore (56 not out), Hasebullah Khan (50), and Rovman Powell (64).

In retaliation, Matthew Wade launched Karachi into a high-speed pursuit. After scoring 53 runs off 41 balls, the veteran wicketkeeper was castled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Wade’s departure seemed to set off a domino effect, and soon Karachi’s batting had collapsed to 122/8.

But the captain, Imad Wasim, put up a spirited fightback, smashing 57 off of 30 deliveries, and bringing his team closer to the mark.

Azmatullah Omarzai and Aamer Jamal both took three wickets as Zalmi triumphed by 24 runs.

Zalmi improved to 3–2–2 on the season and jumped to fourth place in the standings with the victory.

Thursday will see the reigning champion Lahore Qalandars host the Quetta Gladiators.
