In the Ranji Trophy, Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan scored 982 runs and was voted the tournament’s ‘Man of the Tournament.’

For Mumbai, the runners-up in the Ranji Trophy, Sarfaraz Khan had an outstanding campaign. In recognition of his outstanding performance, which included 982 runs for Mumbai, he was dubbed the tournament’s “Man of the Tournament.” At a batting average of 122.75, Sarfaraz scored nearly 1000 runs in just six games. Individually, the batter scored 275, with four centuries and two half-centuries. He scored 658 runs in six games at an average of 82.25, and Rajat Patidar from Madhya Pradesh finished second. His bat produced two centuries and five half-centuries, the highest of which was 142.

Sarfaraz, on the other hand, had a difficult time climbing the corporate ladder. A few years ago, he was forced to leave the Mumbai team. From 2015 until 2018, he played for Uttar Pradesh. In 2020, Sarfaraz returned to the Mumbai squad. The 24-year-old hasn’t looked back since then.

“When I scored a century in the Ranji Trophy, I broke down in tears. While preparing my things to leave Mumbai for the Ranji Trophy tournament in Uttar Pradesh, I was so overcome with emotion that I had to stop myself from shedding a few tears. My ultimate goal in life was to score a century while wearing a Mumbai jersey. Keeping the Mumbai shirt in my luggage, I felt like it might be the last time I’d ever play for the team. My childhood fantasy was to play for Mumbai, rack up a slew of goals, and then see my picture in the local daily “Was stated in a Sportskeeda Cricket interview by Sarfaraz

Sarfaraz, on the other hand, would not return to Mumbai for another three years.

“After returning from Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh, I told my father that I had two options: play for Mumbai or stop cricket. After that, I played club games during the year-long cooling-off period. Those were trying times in my life. After that, I was able to rejoin the Mumbai squad. After that, I went on to make a triple century out of my tonne on return (against Uttar Pradesh in 2020). Then, in the Ranji Trophy final, I had hoped to hit a century for Mumbai. Because of this, even though I’ve hit several tonnes at the Ranji Trophy final, my most memorable one was the one I hit in the semifinals “he continued, adding.

Sarfaraz’s recent good form has made him a strong contender for selection in the Indian national team.
