There are concussion symptoms in England bowler Jack Leach after a heavy fall while fielding, and he has been pulled from the first Test against New Zealand at Lord’s.
In the wake of a hard fall on the field, England spinner Jack Leach has been ruled out of the opening Test against New Zealand at Lord’s. In his native Lancashire, Parkinson is known as a leg-spinning artist. First-class cricket matches have yielded 126 wickets for him.
During the sixth over of the game, Leach was injured while pursuing a shot by Devon Conway to the backward point boundary, his first home Test since the Ashes 2019.
Leach appeared to have injured his neck after landing hard on his head while diving and dragging the ball back from the rope’s edge. Medical personnel from New Zealand treated him briefly before he was able to make his way back to the pavilion.
Leech was forced to withdraw from the match after a medical examination by the ECB’s medical team.
Parkinson has appeared in nine white-ball games for England. Over the previous two years, the spinner has been a regular member of touring teams. This season, he has the most county championship wickets (24, at an average of 25.95) of any spinner in the country.
It was decided that New Zealand will bat first after winning the toss. Their game is still going on.
This three-Test series begins on June 10 and ends on June 23, with the final match scheduled on June 23. The ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 includes this series.
