With regular skipper Faf du Plessis sidelined by injury, RCB’s Virat Kohli has led the team to victories over the Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in their previous two matches.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been performing well in the IPL 2023 with Virat Kohli as their stand-in skipper. With regular captain Faf du Plessis sidelined by injury, RCB’s performance under the India great has been stellar, as they have won their previous two games against the Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. On Wednesday, Kohli captained RCB once again, this time against Kolkata Knight Riders. His temporary captaincy at the toss prompted inquiries regarding his role. Kohli mentioned that du Plessis might return as RCB captain in their next game while discussing his personal experience.

Took the decision to bowl first. It’s obvious. Chinnaswamy evening game, we’ve been chasing well. Stand-in captaincy caught me off guard, but it’s nothing I haven’t done before. The manner the squad has been playing has made this a lot of fun. Once again, Faf will be the one making an effect. With any luck, he’ll be ready to lead again for the upcoming game. It seems like a wonderful pitch, the typical Chinnaswamy pitch we expect,” Virat Kohli remarked before the toss.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s stand-in captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India, as part of the Indian Premier League. The Indian Premier League (IPL) is now in its second phase, and RCB and KKR will play each other for the second time.

With four victories and three defeats, RCB is in fifth place in the IPL standings, while KKR is in eighth place with two wins and five losses.

Faf du Plessis was an instrumental part of RCB’s last two victories, both of which were led by former captain Virat Kohli. RCB won their two games against the Punjab Kings by a combined 24 runs and 7 runs against the Rajasthan Royals.

After losing their past four games, KKR will be hoping for their third tournament victory. The last time we saw KKR, they were playing Chennai Super Kings and losing by 49 runs.

Vaibhav Arora has taken Kulwant Khejroliya’s place on the KKR roster. The RCB lineup is unchanged from their last game.
