It was confirmed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday that Australia will host the T20 World Cup 2022 later this year. The Super 12 stage will begin on October 22 after the qualifying rounds have finished. The opening game of the main event will take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground and feature defending champions Australia taking on New Zealand (SCG). On October 23, however, the MCG will host a cricket match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan.
It’s more than just cricket when India and Pakistan meet. An ex-South African pacer named Dale Steyn is looking forward to the India-Pakistan game at the MCG.
“It’s going to be absolutely insane” when India and Pakistan meet later this year in front of a packed stadium, Steyn stated during an interview with Star Sports.
“There will be chaos. It’s awe-inspiring even without the game. The MCG is one of cricket’s most popular venues. At the MCG in 2015, we faced up against India in the World Cup. When the two teams meet again at the historic MCG later this year, expect India to seek vengeance.
This year’s World Cup will have seven host cities, with the MCG being one of them. The tournament’s other venues include the SCG in Sydney, the Optus Stadium in Perth, the Adelaide Oval, the Brisbane Gabba, the Blundstone Arena in Hobart, and the Kardinia Park in Geelong.
