West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by a comfortable margin of 31 runs on Wednesday, maintaining their chances of making it to the ICC T20 World Cup Super 12. Following their shocking loss to Scotland, West Indies chose to bat first at the Bellerive Oval and amassed 153 for seven in what captain Nicholas Pooran called a “must-win game.” The West Indies were able to dismiss Zimbabwe for 122 runs in 18.2 overs thanks to pacer Alzarri Joseph, who took four wickets for 16 runs in his allotted four overs. The total turned out to be sufficient.

Jason Holder, an experienced bowler, excelled as well, grabbing three wickets for 12 runs in 3.2 overs.

Starter Johnson Charles led the West Indies in scoring with a 45-point performance in 36 balls. Brandon King, who is ill, was replaced in the starting lineup by Charles.

Rovman Powell (28) and Akela Hosein (26) made helpful contributions (23 not out).

The most effective bowler for Zimbabwe was Sikandar Raza, who finished with 3/19 in four overs.
