Rinku Singh was dismissed by a one-handed blinder from Evin Lewis in the IPL 2022.

Evin Lewis’ spectacular catch prevented KKR from a sensational victory in the Indian Premier League in 2022.

Kolkata Knight Riders got a boost from Rinku Singh’s excellent hitting as they chased down a total of 211 against Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday. Just 14 balls later, he had hit 40 with four sixes and two fours, and KKR needed just three runs from the final two balls of the innings to secure victory. Even though LSG was doomed to lose, a stunning catch by Evin Lewis off Marcus Stoinis’ bowling changed everything. LSG beat KKR by two runs in the final match of the regular season to earn a berth in the play-offs.

Lewis’ amazing catch was the star of the show. With two sixes and one four in his first four balls of the 20th over, Stoinis was forced to bowl a full and wide ball. A drive-by Rinku went wide as the ball sailed towards the safety of the fielders’ legs. Lewis drew his left hand out to grab the ball as he sprinted down the field, around 30 yards from the goal.

KL Rahul and de Kock shared a record-breaking IPL opening partnership in the encounter. An unbroken 140 from 70 balls by De Kock and Rahul (68 not out off 51) helped LSG reach 210 for no loss, the biggest opening stand in IPL history.

Nitish Rana (42) and captain Shreyas Iyer (50) kept KKR in the game, but the lower order couldn’t handle the challenge. In 20 overs, they reached 208 for eight. A playoff run for KKR is over.
