Irfan Pathan, a former Indian all-rounder, praised Virat Kohli on Thursday ahead of his 100th test appearance, stating that Kohli had rekindled interest in the longest format of the game.

As Virat Kohli prepares to make his 100th test appearance on Thursday, Irfan Pathan commended him for making everyone fall in love with the text format again. Virat Kohli was a godsend to test cricket when it was on the verge of collapse. He came, he conquered, and he re-ignited the passion for test cricket! Kohli’s 100th Test will be open to the public. The first of a two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will take place at Mohali. Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium will host the second Test match.

Now that he has played in at least 100 Tests for India, the former captain will join the ranks of legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid and the likes of VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev, and Sunil Gavaskar.

Rohit Sharma will captain India for the first time in a Test match when Kohli plays his 100th Test. In 99 Tests, Kohli scored 7,962 runs at an average of 50.39 and smashed 27 tonnes.
