In the highest 50-over domestic tournament in India, the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mukesh last competed for Maharashtra in December 2022 in Ahmedabad.

Mukesh Choudhary, a seamer with the Chennai Super Kings, is recovering from a back ailment at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and so is questionable for the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League season. There has been no word on whether or not the left-handed player will have to sit out any of the events. Before heading to NCA, the 26-year-old had attended the CSK training camp in Chennai earlier this month. There is currently no set date for his recovery from injury.

The last time Mukesh donned a cricket uniform was in December 2022, when he represented Maharashtra in Ahmedabad’s Vijay Hazare Stadium for the country’s premier 50-over domestic event.

The team’s title ambitions have taken another hit as a result of the injury. New Zealand fast Kyle Jamieson, who is recuperating from a back ailment himself, has already been lost to them. The pacesetter, Deepak Chahar, is also recovering from an injury. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team’s hot starter at the plate, was hurt and is currently on the mend. The team’s all-arounder, Shiva Dube, was hurt during Vijay Hazare Tournament preparations and is currently on the mend.

CSK will also be without Sri Lankan bowling duo Mahesh Theekshana and Mathews Pathirana at the outset. Their national duties, which include a white-ball series against New Zealand including six games, and slated to conclude on April 8.

Without Choudhary, CSK will not have a left-arm bowler. His emergence as the team’s joint-highest wicket-taker in the previous IPL season (16 wickets in 13 games at an economy rate of 9.31) made him one of the major finds. Eleven of these scalps occurred on the powerplay, which is tied for the most in the tournament by any bowler.

Super Kings’ backup speed bowlers include the recently crowned Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy champion from Mumbai, Tushar Deshpande, and Delhi’s Simarjeet Singh.

On March 31, 2023, the first day of the Indian Premier League season, CSK will face the Gujarat Titans.

On April 3 versus Lucknow Super Giants, the four-time champions will make their MA Chidambaram Stadium debut.

CSK won only four of their 14 games last year, earning them just eight points and ninth place in the standings.
