Sourav Ganguly messaged Wriddhiman Saha after his battling 61 in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur in November, according to Wriddhiman.

When India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the Indian team for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on March 4, he reacted by firing on all cylinders. According to Saha, Sourav Ganguly assured him that “as long as I’m here (in charge of the BCCI)” he will be allowed to play Test cricket for India.

After his 61 in the first Test against New Zealand at Kanpur in November, Saha said that Ganguly praised him.

“Dadi (Ganguly) thanked me via WhatsApp after I scored 61 against New Zealand in Kanpur and remarked, ‘As long as I’m here (at the leadership of the BCCI), you’ll be in the team’. The president of the BCCI sending me such a message truly helped to raise my self-esteem. I’m difficult to comprehend how quickly things have evolved “During the announcement of the India selection for the next home series against Sri Lanka, Saha spoke to the Sunday Express.

Chetan Sharma, India’s chief selector, held a virtual press conference to reveal the Test and T20I squads for Sri Lanka.

Veteran players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma, and Saha were left out of India’s Test squad in favor of Rohit Sharma, who was selected, as captain.

It has been reported that squad manager Rahul Dravid ordered Saha to contemplate “retirement” because he will no longer be considered for selection going forward, according to the news agency PTI.

“According to the team’s management, I would no longer be taken into consideration going forward. While I was a member of the Indian team, I was unable to reveal this information “On Saturday, PTI cited Wriddhiman as saying.

Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, had also urged him to consider retiring.
