This year’s Indian Premier League saw Jos Buttler become the first English player to score more than 2000 runs in the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals Jos Buttler rode his luck against SunRisers Hyderabad in the first match of the IPL 2022, scoring 35 runs off 28 deliveries. Buttler’s innings featured three boundaries and three towering sixes until he was bowled by Umran Malik and was dismissed for a duck.
A no-ball by Bhuvneshwar Kumar saved Jos Buttler’s life in the first over of the match when Buttler was caught in the slips, but Kumar had overstepped.
In his 66th game in the Indian Premier League, Jos Buttler passed the 2000-run mark throughout the course of his innings.
During his time in the league, Buttler has scored one century and 11 half-centuries.
In the Indian Premier League, he is the first Englishman to attain this milestone. England’s most successful players in the Indian Premier League have been Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan, and Ben Stokes.
Buttler was retained by the Rajasthan Royals because of his contributions to the squad. If he plays to his potential, he can help the team win their second league championship this season, after winning the previous one in 2008.
