Suryakumar Yadav left everyone astonished with his stunning century against Sri Lanka during the third T20I match in Rajkot on Saturday

On Saturday, Suryakumar Yadav stunned the crowd with a century in the third Twenty20 International between India and Sri Lanka at Rajkot. The hitter merely took 51 balls to finish his undefeated knock of 112 runs which was laced with nine sixes and seven fours. The 32-year-old batsman not only reached his third T20I century with this tonne, but he also became one of only five international batters to ever achieve such a feat. Rohit Sharma tops the list with four tonnes, followed by Glenn Maxwell (Australia), Colin Munro (New Zealand), Sabawoon Davis (Czech Republic), and Suryakumar (India), all of whom have three tonnes each.

Suraykumar, who single-handedly carried Team India to a comfortable victory in the series finale match on Saturday, is often compared to South Africa icon AB de Villiers because of the diversity in his shots. However, former Pakistan spinner Dinesh Kaneria went further, comparing Surya to West Indies star Chris Gayle, often known as the “Universe boss.”

“The new Universe Boss is Suryakumar Yadav-the beast. Now, what can I tell about this youngster, even before I have said that a player like Suryakumar comes once in a lifetime? In the innings which he played today, scoring 112 off 51, no one can match that. Even if you bring up ABD and Chris Gayle, they pale in comparison to Surya. Kaneria claimed on his YouTube channel that Dhoni has already surpassed them all and revolutionized T20 cricket.

Coming to the action, Suryakumar demonstrated his unrivaled brilliance yet again in the shortest format with a magnificent hundred as India outplayed Sri Lanka by 91 runs in the third T20I to record a thrilling series win in Rajkot on Saturday.

Surya smashed 112 not out off 51 balls for his third T20I century, leading India to an impressive 228 for five and making life easy for his bowlers. He played about with the Sri Lankan bowlers throughout the game, scoring his third century in the format by slamming fours and sixes all over the field.

The Indian bowlers were thereafter dominant, restricting Sri Lanka to 137 and winning the series 2-1.
