Shardul Thakur shined with the bat for India with a quickfire 57 off just 36 balls. Thakur’s fifty came off just 31 balls, making it the fastest by any batsman on English soil. If it hadn’t been for Thakur’s knock, which included seven fours and three sixes, India’s position would have been much more dangerous. Despite the batting collapse all around him, Thakur’s innings were lauded by experts and fans on social media, with the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians leading the way.
