Riyan Parag
After Ashwin declined a single, Riyan Parag motions toward him.

Riyan Parag and Ravichandran Ashwin got into a snafu, which resulted in the latter getting run out.

After a mix-up saw Riyan Parag run out at the non-end striker’s in the penultimate over of Rajasthan Royals’ innings against Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Qualifier 1, there was high drama on Tuesday. Yash Dayal bowled the penultimate delivery of RR’s 20th over, and Jos Buttler was run out, but it was a no-ball, thus Ravichandran Ashwin, the next batsman, had a free knock at the other end, with Riyan Parag. Dayal threw a wide, and Parag ran down to the striker’s end to take advantage of the free hit. Ashwin, on the other hand, remained in his crease the entire time.

After an easy run-out, Parag was seen holding out his arms in frustration as Ashwin gave him a shrug and left.

As he made his way back to the pavilion, Parag’s expression was stern.

The Rajasthan Royals scored 188 runs in six innings, with Ashwin taking two runs off the penultimate delivery. Sanju Samson (26), Jos Buttler (89), and Devdutt Padikkal (28) all contributed to their innings, which were bolstered by Devdutt Padikkal’s 20-ball 28.

However, despite Wriddhiman Saha being sent packing in the first over by Trent Boult, Gujarat Titans never seemed in danger in their pursuit.

Shubman Gill got them going with a 35-ball 21-over performance. A mix-up with Matthew Wade resulted in a run-out for the young opener, who seemed in excellent form.

Wade sank a three-run home run off Obed McCoy in the third inning.

Hardik Pandya and David Miller, in their inaugural season in the IPL, put up a 106-run stand from exactly 10 overs, leading the Titans to the championship game.

The Titans needed 16 runs off the final six balls, but Miller struck three back-to-back sixes off Prasidh Krishna in the final over to seal the victory after Hardik first had the initiative.

Hardik was unbeaten on 40 off 27 balls.
