Jasprit Bumrah
Mumbai Indians pacer Jasprit Bumrah uploaded a photo of the match ball from the KKR clash

Jasprit Bumrah himself took to Twitter to offer a mixed bag of a message since his personal triumph didn’t result in a win for his side.

Jasprit Bumrah had a disappointing IPL 2022 season in terms of wickets taken till the week of the tournament’s conclusion. The star paceman of the Mumbai Indians was having a dismal season, with only five wickets in ten games. A lack of wickets in the greatest T20 leagues in the globe must have been a concern even for India’s squad management in the year of the World Cup.

To allay any fears, the paceman turned in a stellar performance with the ball on Monday against the Kolkata Knight Riders, picking up his first five-wicket haul in the Indian Premier League. A comeback of 5/10 from Bumrah helped the Mumbai Indians reduce the Kolkata Knight Riders’ score to 165/9. Although the MI batter couldn’t chase the target down and the five-time winners fell to a 52-run loss and it now seems that MI is bound to finish last in the IPL table unless they win their remaining three matches with enormous margins and CSK lose all their remaining matches.

The Indian team’s management must have been beaming after seeing Bumrah’s outstanding performance, which was lauded by cricket experts.

His personal success didn’t translate into victory for his team, so the paceman himself took to Twitter to convey a mixed message.

Last night’s game ended in a defeat, but “a fantastic evening nonetheless,” said Bumrah on his Instagram page with a picture of him and the match ball.

Bumrah has now taken 10 wickets in as many games in the current season. The fact that he has an excellent economy rate of 7.41 runs per over this season is also positive.

When teams aim to avoid or take risks against Bumrah this season, they’ve targeted the other MI bowlers. As a result, Bumrah has been unable to take many wickets this season. To prepare for the following season, he and MI’s leadership will need to go back to the drawing board.
