Dimuth Karunaratne
In the second Test, Dimuth Karunaratne hit 107 against India.

The 107 that Dimuth Karunaratne scored in the fourth innings of the second Test against India earned him a lot of plaudits.

The captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team, Dimuth Karunaratne, is the target of internet trolling when he replied to an old tweet from pundit Harsha Bhogle. After India’s 2-0 series win over Sri Lanka in the second Test, a blunder was committed by one of their players.

After Karunaratne scored a century in the fourth innings of a Test match in August 2019, Bhogle tweeted about it. The Galle International Cricket Stadium hosted the match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Sri Lanka successfully chased down a 268-run mark with Karunaratne’s magnificent 122 in the fourth innings.

Bhogle has already praised the left-handed batsman for his remarkable innings.

I think a hundred in the fourth innings of a game is a really special thing. The commentator tweeted in August 2019 that “and it has come from a very great player #DimuthKarunaratne.”

It appears that Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara missed the date of Bhogle’s tweet and responded with a “Thank You” to the congratulatory message.

Twitter users were quick to point out the blunder and make light of it.

A user inquired, “Is everything all right?” Another user commented, “Stop using Internet Explorer.”

“My brother just searched his name and reacted to every tweet he saw because… he assumed he’s just being noticed now,” another tweet read.

When Karunaratne saw his error, he sent a clarification to his blog: “That tweet was sent more than three years ago, as I just noticed. @bhogleharsha, on the other hand, that was an accurate prediction.”

India defeated Sri Lanka by 238 runs on Monday, ending the two-match series in Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara fought a solitary struggle.

Karunaratne, on the other hand, was lauded for his 107 in the match’s fourth innings. On Day 3 of the day-night Test, the Bengaluru crowd erupted in applause as the southpaw recorded his 14th test century.
