In England’s national List A competition, Matt Renshaw transformed into “Superman” to take a sensational catch during the Royal London Cup.

The magnificent sight of a superb fielding attempt is hardly ever a finer sight in cricket. Over time, a field acrobatic attempt has attracted just as much attention as a brilliant batting or bowling performance. Matt Renshaw, an Australian cricketer, made a big splash on Wednesday at The Oval during a Royal London Cup match. In a match between Somerset and Surrey, the 26-year-old Renshaw, who has participated in 11 Test matches so far, was positioned at first slip when rival opener Ryan Patel outside-edged one-off bowler Kasey Aldridge.

When the ball abruptly soared in the direction of the second slip, Renshaw leaped to his left to take a superb catch. His team was impressed, as seen by the tweet from its official account, which read: “One of the greatest catches you will witness in a long time.”

In the Royal London Cup, a number of elite athletes are competing. Days after scoring a 107 for Sussex against Warwickshire off 79 balls, Cheteshwar Pujara recently backed it up with a second century, this time a 174-run knock-off 131 balls. On Sunday, Pujara played against Surrey. When the guy entered the batting order, his club, Sussex, was reeling at 9 for 2 in 3.2 overs. Pujara first put together a third-wicket partnership of 205 runs with Tom Clark before building on the foundation they had established.

Pujara kept holding one end tight even after Clark failed to reach 104. Later, he sped through his century in just 103 balls. Soon after scoring a century, the Indian player switched up his approach and began hitting the ball with a higher strike rate. Pujara then went on a complete rampage, scoring 74 runs off the following 28 balls. His innings ended in the 48th over, but not before he had totaled 20 fours and 5 sixes.

With Pujara’s contribution, Sussex managed to score 378/6 in the allotted 50 overs. Conor McKerr picked up two wickets for Surrey, while Tom Lawes, Matt Dunn, Amar Virdi, and Yousef Majid each took one.

In exchange, Sussex bowled Surrey out for 162 and won the match by a hefty margin of 216 runs thanks to Aristides Karvelas (4 for 35) and Delray Rawlins (3 for 25). Tom Lawes (57 not out) and Ryan Patel (65 off 56) put up some resistance but couldn’t help Surrey win the match.
