Aiden Markram, a South African, tested positive for Covid-19 in a recent test.

After a positive COVID-19 test, South Africa batsman Aiden Makram was thrown out of the first T20I against India on Thursday.

T20I starter Aiden Makram has been ruled out of the series after he tested positive for COVID-19. Makram, who was a member of the recently finished Indian Premier League, has been unavailable for selection, said skipper Temba Bavuma at the toss. After arriving on June 2 with the rest of the South African team, he passed the first phase of testing last week.

As a result of Aiden’s positive Covid test, the Proteas have called up Stubbs, who will make his international debut.

Tristan Stubbs has made his international debut for South Africa.
