Stuart Broad took two wickets in the 84th over of the innings, dismissing Daryl Mitchell and Kyle Jamieson.

A run-out by Colin de Grandhomme in the 84th over of the second innings cost New Zealand three wickets in three balls.

England entered the third day of the first Test against New Zealand at Lord’s Cricket Ground trailing by more than 200 runs, with Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell holding firm. As soon as Mitchell began bowling, it was clear that England would have a hard day with the ball. However, in the 84th over of the game, Stuart Broad showed his experience and led England to victory.

Colin de Grandhomme and Daryl Mitchell were both dismissed by Stuart Broad in the 84th over, with De Grandhomme being run out on the next delivery.

Finally, Kyle Jamieson was castled by Broad to complete the team hat trick.

An easy catch by Ben Foakes was Mitchell’s reward for a hunt outside the off-stump on the third delivery of the over. Following a straight delivery, de Grandhomme was LBW’d and the crowd went wild. It was Ollie Pope’s direct hit from the gully that knocked out the hitter, who was fouled off his crease.

Broad refused to back down in front of a roaring crowd, and his next delivery rattled Jamieson’s stumps. New Zealand lost three wickets in the space of five minutes.

New Zealand batted first in the current Test and amassed a total of 132 runs. After being bowled out for 141, England took a nine-run advantage.

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell had led New Zealand’s comeback on the second day of the current Test.
