It is Mayank Agarwal's job to lead the Punjab Kings.

For PBKS, the chances of making the play-offs are little to none, and they will have to rely on the results of other clubs in order to do so.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the Mayank Agarwal-led Punjab Kings are in a precarious position. For the seventh time in 13 matches, they were beaten by Delhi Capitals by 17 runs on Monday. PBKS now holds a 12-point lead over the rest of the field, but with just one league-stage match remaining, they’ll have to rely on the results of other clubs to have a chance of making the playoffs. Agarwal, who was named the team’s captain prior to the start of the season, has struggled with the bat. He has scored 195 runs with a batting average of 17.73 in 12 matches.

He exited the play against DC with a score of 0 Mohammed Azharuddin, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, was not thrilled with his batting, but rather with his leadership style.

“Why did (Liam) Livingstone get taken out of the batting order after he had taken one wicket? A bowler can be awarded another over after taking a wicket. Mayank Agarwal’s captaincy today was below par since he lacked intelligence “Azharuddin stated this in a Crictracker interview.

“He might have deployed their key bowlers when PBKS nabbed Warner early on and he could have done so. Instead of Arshdeep Singh, consider using him. He had a chance to get an over because the ball was fresh. His old ball is so good that he could have done better with the new one. One or two more wickets could have been taken by the PBKS. His captaincy was unremarkable, to say the least. I have to admit that Punjab’s cricket today was abysmal.”

In the match against DC, Livingstone was the most effective bowler for PBKS, and he deserves credit for it. To his credit, his four overs yielded 3/27, which enabled PBKS to keep DC at bay for 159/7 in 20 overs. The first ball of the innings saw Livingstone remove Warner, but he was immediately taken from the field. In the 12th over, he was brought back and he picked up Rishabh Pant.

It took PBKS just 20 overs to get 142/9, which is a dismal total.
